UNIGIS UK Tutor elected to the Council of Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society

Richard Armitage, UNIGIS Tutor and Programme Leader from Salford, has been elected as a Trustee and Council Member of the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society (RSPSoc) for a  three year term (2011- 214)).  RSPSoc is the United Kingdom’s leading learned society for earth observation and photogrammetry.  It draws its membership from both the academic and commercial sectors.  While based in the UK, RSPSoc draws members from around the world.

Said Richard “ I am delighted to have been elected to the Council of the Society.  I have been a member of RSPSoc, and its predecessor the Remote Sensing Society, since my student days.  I have gained a lot from attending meetings and conferences organised by the Society, both in terms of being introduced to new ideas and concepts,  and through meeting people from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines.  Being on Council now gives me the opportunity to help the Society to continue with its excellent work”.

Prior to being elected in September 2011, Richard had served for three years as a co-opted Council Member.  Richard is also chair of RSPSoc’s Awards and Professional Standards Committee.
