50 years of Geography at Salford
Along with the 25 years of UNIGIS celebrations taking place this year, the University of Salford is also celebrating 50 years of Geography at Salford. Geography has been taught at Degree level at the University of Salford continuously since 1965. Ten Bachelor Degrees and four Masters Degree programmes have been taught during this 50 year period, with UNIGIS starting up in 1990. Geography was originally based in the Liberal Studies Department of the Royal College of Advanced Technology and contributed to a Joint Honours Degree in Social Studies. Today the Geography team is still based in the 19th century Peel Building and is part of the School of Environment and Life Sciences. A range of celebration events are planned throughout the academic year with more details to follow.
